Sometimes, all you want to do is sit down, get cosy and spend your evening watching movies and eating snacks. Whether you’re looking for alone time or you’d like to chill out with your partner or a friend, there really isn’t anything better than falling into a world of fantasy and feeling your real-life problems fade into the background.
Although it’s a great activity to do on your own, having a movie night can be just as much fun with friends and family. If it’s the dead of winter or you’re looking for something to do during Christmas time, a movie night is almost always a winner.
So here are a few tips to help you host a successful movie night.
Select the Movies Carefully
This is an obvious one, but it all revolves around the movies, right? So make sure you think about who’s coming, what their preferences are and the types of things they may really dislike before you make a selection. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is ask your guests’ opinions. Send out a message asking for a few movie recommendations or a selection of their favourite genre and use that as a starting point.
If you’re going to have a few people over, however, it may be difficult to make everyone happy. So the best thing to do is select a variety of movies to ensure that everyone will get a little bit of something that they enjoy.
Don’t be Stingy with the Snacks
Sure, it’s all about the movies, but the snacks are super important too. Whether you’re doing a full-on dinner before (or during!) or just casual snacks throughout the evening, make sure that you’ve catered properly. Or, make things easier for yourself by asking your guests to each bring something along, whether it’s a plate of eats or a sweet treat for later.
If you are going to have a proper dinner, try and plan it carefully with regards to timing and what you’re serving. If you’d like to be able to eat while watching movies, consider something that’s easy to eat and share like pizza. This is always a great multi-tasking food, whether for eating while watching movies or when you’re searching for Australian open odds. Or, if you have something else in mind that requires cutlery, perhaps create a time slot between movies, or before you start, when you can set at the table and enjoy dinner properly without having to fumble about on the couch or mess on the floor.
Be Creative with Your Set Up
This really all depends on your home and what you have the capability, but having a comfortable set up will do wonders for your movie evening. When it comes to relaxing, it’s all about comfy couches, blankets and pillows – did someone say Christmas bed?
Ensure that there’s enough space for everyone to be able to sit comfortably. Of course, the most vital part is that everyone can see the television and hear the audio, so take that into account when you’re setting up for your movie night.
