In fact, not only have his books been a massive success overall, but many of the film adaptions of his work have consistently been voted among the best films of all time. Stand By Me
Based on a short novella by King, Stand By Me tells the story of a group of young boys in the United States during the 1950s who venture out to see the dead body of another boy hit by a train.
It’s an endearing tale that follows the carefree mindset of close friends and the many trials and tribulations they face along the way, including a number of revelations about themselves and the way they perceive the world. It’s a true one-of-a-king story that took inspiration from the original novella and transformed it into something timeless.
Considered as among the best horror movies ever created, The Shining, directed by legendary film creator Stanley Kubrick, is a chilling tale of a man and his descent into madness. Here, we follow the story of Jack Torrance who moves into a large hotel with his family to look after it during the winter months.
ver time, the hotel – haunted by its previous tenants – begins to work its way in Jack’s head, turning him from a loving father into nothing short of a monster. It’s a film that’s almost as entertaining as online gambling casino games.
The Dead Zone
Another masterpiece from the famous David Cronenberg, here we centre around a man that gains supernatural abilities, specifically the power to see into the future.
Played by the talented Christopher Walken, the main character falls into a five-year coma, and when he come out of it, he’s able to see the future of anyone that he touches. It doesn’t take long for him to find use his power to try and change the course of history.
The Shawshank Redemption
Often cited as the best movie of all time, The Shawshank Redemption tells a powerful story of hope and redemption. Set in the 1930s, a man is accused of murdering his wife and sentenced to prison, where he befriends a number of other inmates.
Viewers follow as he constantly strives to improve the conditions of the prison, offer companionship to the inmates that he holds close, and is involved in an insidious scheme put in place by the warden. There are few other films that offer the same level of acting skill, storytelling, and a memorable redemption arc based on hope and a willingness to never give up.
