Those of us who were brave enough to watch Hereditary in 2018 are likely just recovering, but writer and director Ari Aster isn’t done with us yet. In fact, it would seem that he’s just getting started. There are many moments in Hereditary – for example that car scene – which are likely to live with us for years to come and by all accounts Midsommar is destined to be no different.
The horror genre isn’t quite what it once was, with endless clichéd projects being released year after year, and none coming close to the golden age of horror during the 1970s and 80s. This doesn’t mean that there aren’t any good horror films still being produced, and A Quiet Place is a testament to that fact.

Following hot on the heels of the recent remake of IT (2017), a remake of another of Stephen King’s terrifying novel-to-film adaptations was released this year – Pet Sematary.
Starring Jason Clarke, Amy Steimetz, and John Lithgow, Pet Sematary may not have proved as popular as the remake of IT – which has been hailed has the highest grossing horror movie of all time – but it certainly serves up plenty of classic horror thrills and spills.
With Avengers: Endgame hitting cinemas and setting the record for the highest grossing movie of all time, it’s easy to forget that the entire series has spanned over 11 years in total, and all begin with one film in 2008: Iron Man. Starring the now massively-popular Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man came along when superhero films had all but drawn to an end, and it’s refreshing take on the superhero genre spawned an entire new decade of high-quality films with some of the best comic book characters of all time.
